they are using remote control subs to add a dispersant chemical
is this a good thing or does it just keep the oil from surfacing and hide the poisoning ?

1. Some things
solidify the oil and dump it on the ocean floor as tar. Maybe they're using that.

2. the only real problem with oil
spills in the ocean is where the ocean and land meet.... millions, no billions of gallons of oil leak on the ocean floor in many places all the time... if you can make it sink, it reduces the amount coming ashore

well, okay, not the only problem, but the main problem.

3. As it breaks up the oil and the oil sinks to the bottom
if the sinking oil is near the shore in LA then it will smother the clams and shrimp. They have stopped all fishing. The industry is destroyed.

4. Speaking of which, Tweety had some paople on
the other day. One was from Mother Jones, I think. I was waiting for her to answer the "bio-degradable" crap coming out of some oil industry guy's mouth. She didn't. Oil is not "bio-degradable". It degrades, but is not bio-degradable. Years ago, Glad or someone came out with a plastic garbage bag that said "bio-degradable" on it. They were not. They broke down into little bits of plastic over time.
