Tom Toles cartoon that was in today's Mpls Star Tribune. I liked the comment about the poodle.

1. Just an observation.

Have you noticed that the queen seems to only visit during Republican administrations? I'm not saying she's a snob, but could she consider the Dems too working class and common for her and the Pubs more aristocratic and worthy of her visitations? I'm just wondering. After all wasn't Princess Diana too much of a bleeding heart liberal for the royal family to accept?

3. That's an interesting point
I looked up her past visits and it looks like some of it is just coincidence.

She was here in 1957 for the 350th anniversary of Jamestown (Eisenhower). In 1976 for the Bicentennial (Ford) and this time she's here for Jamestown's 400th anniversay. So, with the exception of the 1991 visit to Bush I (I couldn't find a reason for it) she's been here only for some kind of British/U.S. anniversary.

Prince Phillip also went to JFK's funeral as the Queen's representative, she did not attend as she was pregnant and couldn't make the trip.

Didn't Charles and Diana visit the Clintons?

5. I know Diana did
don't know about Charles. Charles and Diana separated in 1992, obviously before Clinton took office. But I've definitely seen pictures of Diana visiting with Hillary.

4. She is not here to visit the *ss. She is here to commemorate and
event that her country was deeply involved in. It is merely protocol for her to go to the WH when she is in the country. Prince Charles did the same thing when he came to see what was happening to the money that his foundation donated to NO.

7. I'm thinking after a dinner with George and Laura the Queen may
feel an overwhelming urge to visit Jefferson's grave, tell him that this George is worse than the one he knew and then break into "Who's Sorry Now?".
