May 6th - 12th, National Nurses Week |
|
Please do what you all can to acknowledge/recognize nurses as this week approaches.
You can no longer assume that the acute care facility they work for will be..
Found out that our facility has eliminated Nurses Day and Week because it apparently is no longer politically correct..they are worried that other departments will feel left out so the hospital has turned it into "Celebrate Us All". No, I didn't make that up, that is what it is called now. No mention of nurses at all. At all.
I was told it is a "national trend" nowadays.
How they can eliminate a world wide Day/Week of recognition that has been around for DECADES is beyond me.
I've already taken the stand that I will be saying Happy Nurses Day on May 6th and Happy Nurses Week from the 6th thru the 12th whenever I run into a nurse co worker. To hell with others getting their "feelings hurt".

2. another nurse(25 years) checking in |
|
the trend here has been to substitute unlicensed personnel for RNs,with a steep decline in patient satisfaction(the holy grail)Now,the hospitals are unable to recruit licensed staff.I love nursing, and will never leave. It's sad to see the way some things never change, though.

6. They combined ours with Patient Safety Week |
|
But, I, for one, have always hated Nurses Week because it puts into stark relief the bad way management treats us the other 51 weeks and then they put on a show and give us a sports bottle with their logo on it in the 52nd week. Disingenuous is what comes to mind.
