"But Greg Butcher, the Nation Audubon's Director of Bird Conservation, said the issues go beyond oiled feathers -- which can make it difficult for diving birds like brown pelicans, to repel water from their feathers.

"Their food supply will get oiled," he said. And the habitat will be impacted.
"It's really sad," he said. "It's just a terrible time of year for an oil spill. ... The Gulf of Louisiana is just alive. The grasses are growing and the birds are singing and courting."

3. can they move birds before the oil hits...?
I know it sounds naive, but i know that relocating animals *can* be done... probably not on such a mass scale... but it would be cool if just *some* of them could be saved

 The cost in wildlife and nature is worse than anything ...and there is no pricetag for it, no matter who we think is paying the bill

4. Dunno...Maybe some.
This is going to affect all kinds of wildlife:

It's wierd. Last week a copy ticketed me here in Indianapolis for not having my seatbelt on. I was thinking about it today. All the safety precautions we're supposed to follow in our everyday lives, and BP isn't required to install devices on their wells that potentially affect the entire Gulf Coast. It boggles my mind.

8. Did he?
He should drag his sorry white ass down there to help with cleanup since of course it'll last a couple of hours.
