Unlike CNN, which is interviewing Donald Trump and have been showing a fixed camera view of Times Square for the last 24 hours!

2. Anybody remember when the bush admin tried to seize control of weather reporting?
I can't remember the details, exactly, but it struck me as very odd at the time.

9. Rick Santorum was behind the effort because Accu-Weather, I think it is, is
headquartered in Penn.

12. A lot of landlines and cell service is still down. My landline
has't been up for long. Keep trying. But from what I've been hearing most people have been evacuated that needed to be. I'm sure they're fine. But keep us updated. Sending good vibes and prayers to you.

Hang in there!

10. I live in Pegram, right outside the Bellevue area. I ain't going to work
tomorrow. The power just came back on about an hour and a half ago. The phone came on about a half hour later, so I called all my friends to make sure they're ok. They are, thank the Universe. Although my boss went to MS for a women's convention and she is stuck in a hotel in Jackson because I-40 is closed. But she and her sisters are ok.

But, as I said, I ain't going to work tomorrow. Last I heard the intersection of HWY 70 I use is under 15 feet of the Harpeth River. If I was somehow able to get past it, the McCrory Lane bridge I normally is closed because it is about to collapse. My alternate route is also flooded.

Myself, I live in a house on stilts on the side of a hill so I'm high and dry. While the power was out I sat on my covered deck reading my book. I pulled out my backpack Sterno stove and made some "camp coffee" and cooked a hot dog, which was delicious! No condiments, just the hot dog and bun. When it started getting too dark to read, I lit some tea candles and enjoyed the mist floating of my woods and listening to the raging creek below me and the whippoorwills, occasionally interrupted by a very wet dog leaning against me who had been out chasing squirrels and deciding he wanting some scratching and petting.

After the power came back on and I could see the news... the flooding is horrendous. Many people have lost their homes. Last I heard there are only 5 confirmed dead, but I expect that number to increase exponentially once they can get a more accurate count. But, the emergency response has been extremely good considering the nature of this catastrophe - the worst flooding in over a hundred years, probably more.

As a side note, I have noticed the most extreme weather conditions in the last 5 years than I have seen in my 53 years of life.
Extreme drought, followed by extreme floods, etc., etc.

And, yes, I do blame Climate Change.

is under water or will be. The Cumberland is still rising.

15. Crap! If true, then all of MetroCenter will be underwater.
I remember when MC was the "happening" place in Nashville. I had a lot of good times there.

16. It's really sad how pathetic corp media has become

Even radio: last night I tried to find even one station AM or FM talking about what was going on in Nash Vegas.

Because I remember when WSB in Atlanta used to suspend regular talk when there was a local emergency/weather situation. They would take calls from locals explaining where the power was out or talking about conditions in their neighborhoods.

NONE of the Nashville AM or FM stations I tuned into even mentioned anything. Just spewing hate radio - talking bout fucking Arizona when people are being flooded out!

These are the public's airways, people! But they refuse to serve the public!

"Pay no attention to your house floating down the street. Just pay close attention to our Right Wing Corporate Talking POints!"

Sickening. It pisses me off so badly, how absolutely USELESS the media are. :grr:
