18. I guess what we consider newsworthy and what the media considers newsworthy are different |
|
For example I didn't think it was newsworthy that Clinton got a blow job but the media did. I think clients who work for the government and are using a fantasy sex service (thereby opening themselves up for blackmail) is newsworthy but the media doesn't.
Of course, I didn't think the Bush video of him looking for WMD's around the WH was funny but the press did. And I thought Colbert was hysterical but the press didn't.

7. Legalize prositution. Let people control their sexuality |
|
as use it as they wish. Consenting adults should do whatever they want with their sex organs.

32. You realize you're saying "legalize slavery for women." |
|
And yes, for men in the case of gay male prostitutes, but mostly for women.
There is no way you can sell something like sex without exploitation. No matter how many European countries you drag into the argument or how many phony testimonials you produce. A person who uses a prostitute is encouraging slavery and abuse of women. I know. My brother did. I will never speak to him for the rest of his life.

39. I gotta go with legalization too |
|
You disowned your brother for having sex with a prostitute?
I'm not for it or anything I certainly wouldn't be a hooker, but it is the world's oldest profession so I don't think it's going away. If we legalize it at least it would be more transparent and out in the open.

40. No. We're saying: Admit it exists and regulate it. |
|
Be as moral and concerned as you like, there will ALWAYS be prostitution. It CANNOT be eliminated. So if you have the smallest real concern for those women, and men, you will champion legalization so that they can be protected by laws, by unions, with all the rights of legally working citizens.
Moral outrage gets them NOTHING. They're still there.

There are many escorts in this country who have CHOSEN to do what they do because it pays better than a "normal" job and they are comfortable with it. I have a very close friend who did it for a while to meet a financial goal she had, and she was in control of it. I made my best to find other options for her, until she asked me to stop because she was fine with what she was doing. Also had a friend who was a stripper who basically let men grab her naked body all over and she was fine with it because of the money she got.
Nobody is advocating slavery of any kind over here. Many sex workers do it because they choose to, and sadly many other don't. Forced prostitution is something all societies should fight against.

one more time I see how sexist the law can be.
charging for sex is not generally something a man can do therefore the law against prostitution only applies to women. They call the case "DC madam" not "the DC Johns". There is no mention of the crime of "soliciting prostitution" or "adultery."

|
Ever since this stuff was announced, DU'ers were licking their chops, waiting for all the Republicans this prostitution scandal would reveal. And then, when all of you tuned into "20/20" for the big reveal...there was nothing.
Nothing except John Stossel licking the heinies of his corporate sponsors, telling us that secondhand smoke doesn't exist and ethanol is a fraud and down is up.
Congratuations. You have been pwn3d. Guess there won't be any easy Democratic wins after all. Maybe you should all go back to work and canvas neighborhoods and pressure the Presidential candidates to actually earn the public's trust. 'Cause this scandal was a fraud.
