1. In pollution discussion circles

... the idea that "Dilution is the solution" is widely accepted.

But the Gulf is kinda like a bathtub. It is limited in size and dilution capabilities. The Gulf of Mexico, as we knew it, is gone.

Eventually the oil in that reservoir will run out. (We hope)

Thing is to now make sure that it never happens again, eh?

the gulf is limited but so are the chemicals needed to dilute, and dissolve the crude. BP already bought 1/3 the world's supply and at this rate, they will exhaust it.

... a chemical dispersant is like soap. Just another pollutant.

And what happens is that the oil then drops to the bottom. Maybe. Maybe not. It may turn into fine particulates that float everywhere.

Greatest Page. Has ~115 recs. The whole thing is speculation and some of it is even inaccurate, especially the part where the guy says the rig landed on top of the hole, preventing access to it.
