'Robin Hood' bandit gives away cash after Short North bank robbery

Police are seeking a "Robin Hood" bank robber who showed a gun while robbing the Huntington Bank at 662 N. High St. this afternoon, then handed out stolen money while fleeing the scene.

According to the FBI, a man came into the Short North bank shortly after 1:30 p.m. and showed a robbery note to a teller, then lifted his shirt to reveal a dark-colored semi-automatic pistol that was tucked at his waist. The teller gave the man money, and he fled the bank northbound along High Street.

As the robber jogged up the street, he handed $100 bills to a mother and daughter who had just taken a tour of Ohio State University and were in the Short North area shopping. The women told police they said, "This isn't real, is it?," and the robber answered as he jogged away, "I can assure you that it is."

The women attempted to enter the Huntington Bank to check on the authenticity of the money, but the dorrs had been locked after the robbery. When police arrived, the women described what had happened and turned in the stolen money.

1. "and turned in the stolen money"
What a sucker.

On the other hand, I'm convinced the bank would of turned over money to her immediately if they suspected a bank error or erroneous bank fee

4. Don't forget that this guy threatened to
kill a minimum wage employee. Showing the gun demonstrated that the intent was to harm the person if the demand was not met. This person is not a hero and it does nothing to the bankers.
