5. Moveon blowing it again as usual. |
|
Moveon is just trying to get in front of the parade. Obama already halted new offshore drilling until the current situation is reviewed. That is effectively an indefinite moratorium. His decision gives him the result without the political fallout of Moveon's dumb approach. Moveon constantly hands wins to the enemy who is always looking for a fool to argue with on our side.
Now, thanks to Moveon, if Obama does decide on a moratorium, the right will portray him as doing Moveon's bidding. How awful for environmentalism. How good for, um, Moveon though, curiously.
If Moveon wanted to do something worthwhile, they ought to be screaming from the rafters that Bush and Cheney policies caused this problem in the first place. That is the way to nail the oil companies. We badly need some rhetorical grenades thrown, but it would be nice if they were thrown at the Republicans.

6. No, Obama said new drilling must be "safe", there was no moratorium. |
|
Sorry MoveOn doesn't meet with your apporval, but on this issue I don't think this call is unreasonable.
