Texas Governor, Rick Perry blames The Lord for oil spill
Edited on Mon May-03-10 08:57 PM by Tutankhamun
He called the unmitigated catastrophe, "An act of God."

In light of this bold proclamation, there are two possible conclusions one can draw:

Possibility #1) The catastrophe is truly God's doing, and therefore it's clear that The Lord hates British Petroleum and wants to completely and permanently destroy its reputation.

Possibility #2) The catastrophe is not God's doing, and therefore it's clear Republican Governor Rick Perry hates The Lord and wants to completely and permanently destroy His reputation.

So, which is it? Does The Lord hate British Petroleum or does Governor Perry hate The Lord?

1. They should be required to answer those questions
as long as they are using god as an excuse. And they should be forced to produce this god

2. It's becoming clear if the subject of tea parties had not been resurrected, BP would have never
retaliated with the oil..KO...can't remember the exact joke but it went something like that..

3. I thought it was my soon-to-be ex-governor that said that
http://trailblazersblog.dallasnews.com/archives/2010/05/perry-defends-bp-alludes-to-ac.html

At an appearance in Washington Monday, Gov. Rick Perry alluded to an "act of God" as he addressed a question about the Obama administration's response to the April 20 oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico.

"From time to time, there are going to be things that occur that are acts of God that cannot be prevented," Perry said. "So until we know that, to make a judgment on this administration or any further activity may be a bit premature."

The governor's staff says Perry was not insisting that an "act of God" caused the spill. (He later said that he suspects a "mechanical failure" is the cause.) Perry aides say that he was simply making the point that it is too early to blame BP PLC, which leased the rig that was drilling the well...

A BP dude said it too?

12. No. I mistakenly attributed it to BP. Thanks, blogslut, for catching that so quickly!
I corrected the attribution and amended the questions accordingly. The post, I'm glad to announce, still retains 100 percent of its original smart assery.

9. You have it backwards there
Edited on Mon May-03-10 08:59 PM by lunatica
Gawd, as you call it has bestowed freedom of choice and has stood back and let the consequences happen as they will. It's called the law of karma which basically is that whatever you put forth will return to you in equal force, without Gawd, as you call it, having to lift a finger.

Gawd just sits back and watches the law give it's lessons. Sooner of later humanity will evolve through the utter pain of consequences and the balancing of karma. Gawd doesn't need to do a thing. It is humans who make the law happen, and it is humans who can change their actions to change the outcome of the law of karma.

Or not, as you prefer to believe.

5. Well, while I would never presume to speak for the Almighty.
I think this scripture fits the situation....

Revelation 11:18

And the nations were angry, and thy wrath is come, and the time of the dead, that they should be judged, and that thou shouldest give reward unto thy servants the prophets, and to the saints, and them that fear thy name, small and great; and shouldest destroy them which destroy the earth

Sounds like God is going to be a little bit pissed off at the oil companies.

15. Then maybe we'd better pay attention cuz God is pretty steamed about something.
But what Gov. Goodhair is really trying to say is that humans can do any damn thing they please to the environment to make a buck, and if something goes horribly wrong it isn't the humans' fault, it's just God fucking with us, for some reason.
