Boehner: Oil spill emphasizes need for more drilling
Even Roll Call couldn’t help but smirk at this one. “At least they get points for consistency,” quipped Jennifer Bendery.

House Republican leaders are once again sounding the drumbeat for passage of their sidelined pro-drilling energy reform package, even as state and federal officials scramble to stem a massive Gulf oil spill.

“This tragedy should remind us that America needs a real, comprehensive energy plan, like Republicans’ ‘all-of-the-above’ strategy,” House Minority Leader John Boehner (R-Ohio) said Monday in a statement.

The tragedy, if anything, “reminds us” that drilling is dangerous. Period. There’s nothing about (what’s likely to be) the most catastrophic oil spill in history that “reminds us” we need to create the circumstances that make events like this more likely in the future.

In fact, he would be advised to stay away from ultraviolet light sources. It's affecting his brain.

22. I like your screen name. (That sounds like something a robot would say on a first date) LOL
I am also immoderate. My favorite quote from Emerson:

"A foolish consistency is the hobgoblin of little minds, adored by little statesmen and philosophers and divines. With consistency a great soul has simply nothing to do. He may as well concern himself with his shadow on the wall. Speak what you think now in hard words, and to-morrow speak what to-morrow thinks in hard words again, though it contradict every thing you said to-day. — ‘Ah, so you shall be sure to be misunderstood.’ — Is it so bad, then, to be misunderstood? Pythagoras was misunderstood, and Socrates, and Jesus, and Luther, and Copernicus, and Galileo, and Newton, and every pure and wise spirit that ever took flesh. To be great is to be misunderstood."

27. Thanks. I like that quote.
I chose the name because I wanted something that implied radical. But that word is often misused. It means "root."

As it turns out, because it's DU, I find myself being moderate more often than I would have thought. Funny, I find the same thing when I go to my atheists group and my socialists group. There's a pattern here, I think.

Until those times that I "fly off the handle," I probably resemble that remark. I'm working on it.

You sound pretty civilized in your own right.:hi:
