This Hair-Mat-Mushroom concept has been proved on smaller scales all over the world and now it's time has come. As the dire implications of this spill are becoming more apparent, there is an offensive we can all be a part of.

Research the "matter of trust" site. Check out their links and examine the findings.

This is not just a grass roots movement. This is a "head roots" movement.

And this is going to make History!

35. The "Matter of Trust" people will be on Good Morning America May 5
It will be interesting to see how MSM will handle this idea.

Will they mock and make dumb jokes?
Will they donate hair on TV? (cool)

I won't be up that early but I will set it to tape right now.

4. Did you call in to the Randi Rhodes show? If not, someone did today so hopefully
many people heard and will look into it. And, she said she'd look it up so maybe she'll promote it on her show.

A GREAT idea! :hi:

7. Can glass wool be used/treated to collect oil?
After the demise of the "Free Insulation" debacle that resulted in a few deaths and a number of housed burned to the ground, suppliers and installers here in Australia are left with millions of dollars worth of glass batts which apparently have a shelf life. They don't spring back well if confined in their plastic packaging for more than 6 months or so.

And I'm sure there are plenty of bales of the cellulose granule stuff as well.

18. When I saw this for the first time last year, I couldn't believe it.
Then they did it in the bay and it WORKED!

Look at the links, read the research.

The truth is always stranger than fiction. Fiction HAS to be plausible.

19. I have all these pantyhose I was about to dump.
I'd be happy to send the nylons but they seem to want a lifeblood commitment first. And, frankly, since I do walk and with difficulty, getting to a farmer's market once a week is usually beyond my power. Not to mention more than I can afford.

I'd like to be helpful but that site reeks of unconscious overprivilege.

20. I searched the donation info and I signed up for free.
What did you see about farmer's markets?

Maybe try again.

They mention arranging for pick-up.
I am poor, old and slightly decrepit myself and I will donate my hair and my cats' and my dog's hair as well.
I can't go to Louisiana and help create mats, but I know there will be plenty of "over-privileged" young people donating their time and energy.

There's a first time for everything.
Remember, this is a NEVER-been-done-before massive project.

33. How to send Hair!!!! Hold on!!
No Surprise the warehouses are full and La. just got sent 40,000 pounds of hair and they need more. They just need more warehouse space.

Printing up a flier from the site is a great idea.

We need to be calling and contacting hair salons and groomers in our areas. Take the fliers around, so they know your not crazy.

Between our own Goldens and the grooming room at our boarding kennel we'll be able to contribute a lot of dog hair!

Can't imagine where they're going to get enough nylon stockings, though. I don't know anyone who wears those any more.

34. The "Matter of Trust" site has had more joiners in 2 days, then in 6 years!!!
They are waiting on where the spill will go to set up the hair-mat booms in the most advantageous places.

They are OUT of warehouse space for now, thats why they are making people wait for a delivery site.

Print up their fliers and talk to every groomer and hairdresser you know.

Also...If you know of a possible ware house where we can store hair, let the "Matter of Trust" people know ASAP.

Love and organic roots-roots activism to all.
