1. The Cumberland is an angry river... |
It's headwaters are in the mountains of eastern KY. It destroyed my home in 1977. It doesn't like people cutting roads into the mountains that feed it or cutting off those mountain tops. We will see more, I am sure.

2. Anybody Know How They Evacuated All The Guests?........ |
I'm sure that the hotel was filled with guests. There were no people in any of these pictures. What is the story as to how they evacuated them? That had to be a pretty frantic place as this was happening.

3. I believe they evacuated them to McGavock High School.... |
probably using the same buses they use to transport their workers to and from the hotel.

7. My nephew's wife works in the hotel. |
She has 7 feet of water in her office. I heard this morning that the Opry Mills Mall, which is next to the hotel, will not be ready to re-open until December. This is a human and economic disaster of gigantic proportions.

8. This will be the economic stake in the heart for TN. |
And it wasn't just Nashville. I've heard of extensive damages in three other towns because of the Cumberland. The rebuilding jobs would be a big boost, but where's the money going to come from? The state is already on the ropes for depending on sales taxes instead of a progressive income tax. Needless to say, sales have been flat for quite awhile.
All of this in addition to the mess unfolding in the Gulf.
