Interesting choice of words but significance intended.
N.J. Gov. Chris Christie: Vouchers offer a 'final solution' for school system

A voucher system that lets any child in New Jersey go to any school, public or private, is the "final solution" to an overly expensive system that continues to fail too many children, Governor Christie said Monday.

Christie told the group New Jersey could be a national bellwether.

Christie told an enthusiastic school choice advocacy group in Washington that he will expand the number of public charter schools and supports a bipartisan bill to provide thousands of public scholarships so children in failing districts may attend private or parochial schools.

"They are trapped by a self-interested, greedy schoolteachers union that cares more about putting money in their own pockets and pockets of members than they care about educating the most vulnerable and needy children," Christie said.

1. For decades, paid less than private industry, but teachers are "greedy". Go. To. Hell.

2. Yes, yes -- how DARE that union look out for its members and try to get money in their pockets?
Teachers should work for FREE because they love children so much!

Actually, that's exactly what my MIL was told when she walked the picket line during a teachers strike many years ago. "I thought you loved kids," her neighbor said. "You must really hate kids if you're out here not teaching them."

Solidarity, teachers!

3. Maintaining a fair wage, and freedom of some expression by tenure.

May not be self serving. The tenure argument is especially important since it lets teachers teach without fear of reprisal without a system of review.

There is an argument that wage arguments are the same thing as she mentions, however if that argument is made to balance a bad distribution by a system that is unbalanced and top heavy, then it is valid for them to argue for more wages, and situations that lead to better teaching.

If a person working for a nickle says that the person making a dollar off his work should pay another nickle, then it is an argument for better balance, not just for more pay. If a person making a nickle just wants a nickle, then it would be the same thing.

The argument that unions just want more for themselves has to be looked at against social balance of income distribution by the system that is used, compared to work done and value to society, and see if it is in balance. That balance also includes higher pay for inovators or hard workers, but how much more should they get and how much do they earn is a valid question also.

4. What is going to happen
is that it will end up costing more, worse results, and the teachers will get blamed again.
