Can the Gulf oil disaster get worse? Well, Hurricane season starts June 1st
The estimate currently being discussed as to when the Deepwater Horizon well head can be capped is 90 days, and even then folks aren't sure that will happen.

But what happens if a category 3-5 hurricane shows up in the Gulf? What happens when 100+ MPH winds drive the oil into New Orleans, Galveston, or any of the other coastal cities?

What happens if the oil spill is driven into the Everglades?

What happens if you get two hurricanes at the same time, one in the Gulf and one in the Atlantic, as does happen on occasion?

What happens when this mess gets spread over the entire Caribbean? When oil washes up on tourists destinations like the Bahamas, St. Croix, St. Kits, Jamaica, etc.

The scope of this disaster could increase several orders of magnitude in the next 90 days, and I am curious to know if anyone has seen this scenario considered by any agency or group, government or otherwise.

3. A sign of the "End Times"
Seriously, I just have this vision of a hurricane scooping up the oil in the Gulf and pumping it into the Everglades.

4. If it goes into the Everglades, that would be the end of those huge snakes.
Too big a cost to pay, but can you imagine how many of those there will be after they have their offspring? Whoa!

5. A 'cane from the right direction will flush all that gunk out into the Atlantic.

Sooner rather than later.

6. Wave action cleans up oil spills faster than anything else
a good Cat 3 hurricane would work well for the cleanup effort. Then it can go ashore in South Texas, around the King Ranch where (literally) nobody lives. It spins itself out and no damage.

7. No damage?
What about water pollution?

Do you seriously think fish can survive in oily water?

Crabs? Can they adapt to oily waters? Tuna? Whales? Anything?

8. Hmmm...
I wish I had your optimism.

The concentrations of petrochemicals needed to harm marine life is not that high. And as a storm moves in, it seems that it could concentrate oil into an area just as easily as it could disperse the oil.

12. OK, sorry
I just came back from a deadly serious debate about children being electrocuted as "therapy" in Massachusetts and my joke detector was completely turned off.

14. E-GADS MAN! No wonder! They're still doing that? And in Mass. of all places?
That's really sick. I'm pissed off as it is about the way they hand out ADD and ADHD drugs like candy. EST is just evil.

17. It's worse than that
Electroshock therapy (now called electroconvulsive therapy) actually has legitimate uses under carefully controlled conditions.

No, this was putting the equivalent of stun belts on autistic and emotionally disturbed children in order to condition them to behave.

I cover it here:

If you are interested.

16. 2012
If you were to believe, as i do, in reincarnation, it means there is no end.

The meek shall inherit the earth, it has been said. If we leave a degraded planet only to come back and have to live with those sins, what have we gained?
