6. I've only been once, while doing a xcountry drive from AZ back to VA
we hadn't planned on stopping but got 2 different flats on the same day and decided to check out Opryland just for fun. It was a great day, a bit of a drizzle so the park was virtually empty but my husband and I did a bunch of rides and acted like we were in our teens again. :D

15. me too
people who aren't from there maybe don't get that the new Opry complex is FAR from downtown but so much of Nashville developed all along the Cumberland.. not to mention all the other rivers and tributaries that converge.

no doubt Ft. Nashboro is under water since it's on 1st street.

16. I have heard nothing about Ft. Nashboro flooding.
It is located slightly higher than the area of 1st that intersects with
Broad, which is where most of the flooding is downtown.

18. it's such a little place
I read that the country music hall of fame had 5 ft of water in the building and it's further away from the river and higher up than broadway. but that water is in the basement and, like the Alamo, there's no basement in Ft. Nashboro, so maybe it's untouched.

I used to love that place as a kid. It smelled weird. those logs for the cabins...

5. Damn.
They're doing an amazingly good job there dealing with the situation. Even still, that's a horrific mess.

8. I'm in Nashville for work...
We were supposed to start rehearsing on Monday but we are on hold for a few more days.
Sunday when things started to get bad we went down to the warehouse where all our gear is stored. We waded through 5 foot waters to get into the warehouse and spent hours putting all the most expensive equipment on the highest shelves. It was all for nothing, by the time the river crested the entire warehouse was underwater. What really sucks is this warehouse also has storage space for many musicians. I know for a fact that many bands are going to lose a lot of gear and I know of a few people who had some expensive vintage stuff stored there. It's hard to even comprehend all the damage, and in a day or so I imagine the bugs and the smell will start to permeate everything.

9. Oh, I'm so sorry, walldude!
 I think the scope of damage is going to be much larger in so many ways than we can imagine right now. :(

This is huge, major flooding. I know there's an oil gusher and a terrorist to talk about, but still...

I know a couple who evacuated their home with only their family photos and then got caught in flooding on a road. They had to be rescued and only saved one large family photo. They checked into a hotel, which also flooded so they had to evacuate the hotel. Finally their daughter picked them up and took them home with her. Their home and both of their vehicles are lost.

Thankfully, they had flood insurance. But their photos are irreplacable.
