So this guy was a radicalized muslim after all
I guess I will have to re-learn what we already knew

Furiegn terror goes after famous places, that are in all kinds of movies and other things we export.

Internal goes after the FBI and other symbols of authority in fly over country.

In the end, terror is terror is terror

But here the part of the story that did catch my eye. Why did our suspect got radicalized? The same reason many in the militias are... bad economy, and foreclosures.

Oh and Rush (Yes I listened to him for half an hour, I could not take it anymore) was actually HAPPY and GLOATING it was not a freeper. That I found curious too.

10. I've learned recently that some DU'ers are...
...members of organized religion.

I was shooting off my mouth with some stereotypes only to have my preconceptions/misconceptions--cordially--handed back to me with "Addressee Not Known" written on them.

These DUers are good people, perhaps not in spite of their organized religion but maybe even because of it.

I don't think stereotypes do anybody any good.

11. It depends what organized religion gets hold of them
Some are relatively innocuous. Others are not.

2. There's a lot to consider about his motives, though.
There's much on both sides of the coin, here. He grew up in a city that gets bombed by Taliban almost weekly these days. His family have money, there was always enough for a ticket home, it seems.

It's entirely possible he was radical before he got here. And I don't believe the foreclosure was anything but a walk-away, the numbers weren't that dire and cash was available.

We'll know more in another week or so, I expect.

4. Oh absolutely
I am scratching the surface and the house foreclosure might have been the camel's back...

As always each one of these guys, militia, RW insert Al Qaida sub-group here, et al... have different reasons to go there as well.

It is never as simple as just going... ALLAH, Jesus, or for that matter Buddha made them do it.

3. Some DUers seemed HAPPY and GLOATING
when they thought he was a Freepbagger. Cuts both ways, I guess. Speculation can bring out the worst in all of us.

5. If he had been in the militia here folks would be gloating
"See, I told you they were dangerous, round em all up now"

As far as internal/external - Folks go after whom they see as the biggest threat. Internally it is fbi/irs/etc. Externally it is anyone now like the attacker who lives in a country they have a beef with.

12. If I had to work for Affinion, I'd blow myself up too
http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2010/05/04/national/main6459360.shtml

CBS News has confirmed that Shahzad worked until 2009 as a junior financial analyst at the Norwalk, Conn., office of a business named Affinion Group. An employee at the company wouldn't confirm whether Shahzad chose to leave the company or was terminated.

A spokesperson for Affinion told CBS News that Shahzad worked for the company from 2006 to June 2009. The spokesperson refused to provide any other information other than that the company was working with investigators.

They do those scummy marketing inserts in bank statements, etc., to dupe people into perpetual subscriptions for crap they don't need.
