Paranoia strikes deep.
I'm sure it is nothing but I was travelling yesterday on the east coast and airports were packed with soldiers on the move. Anybody have a clue what's up? All of them were in desert fatigues. One poor guy was older than me, and that is old.

1. Surge is up.
Everyone is looking for a little piece of the sand.

2. I think there was recently scheduled deployment. Maybe they are
flying out to one of the Army forts from which they will deploy.

Or maybe they are en route home?

I dunno. But I understand how it can get your nerves up. I would get that way whenever I saw the desert-painted army equipment on its way to the coast, and then see it stacked up in the port, awaiting loading on a ship. The first one I saw was back in early 2003, and we had to wait twenty minutes for a train to pass with thousands of tons of army jeeps, trucks, etc. I think the equipment was coming from Fort Hood through south Texas to Port of Corpus Christi.

3. Right, there was a lot of stuff flying out of the airbase
here in central NM yesterday, mostly jets and a couple of transports. The cloud deck was low so I really couldn't get a fix on where they were going, but it sounded like they were covering other bases that had sent all their planes and personnel overseas.

They'd been buzzing my neighborhood with ospreys off and on for a week or so. If they don't kill folks on the ground when they crash, the noise will cause poorly built mud houses to crumble. Or they'll die laughing. They really are funny looking beasts when they're up in the air.

In any case, Stupid seems to have lied about his surge (big surprise!), and he's throwing every available body into that hellhole instead of the few thousand he admitted to.

It's going to work just as well as Johnson's escalation in Vietnam did, and for the same reason.

May they come home safely and may this rid us of imperial Repuglicans forever.

4. Well that was my impression as well, that we are extra-surging.
Or over-surging or super-surging. I just hope this is not all a potemkin village for a little event slightly east of Iraq.
