Dear friends,
Since I started writing The Borowitz Report ten years ago, many of you have said, “Andy, you’re awesome – why aren’t you on TV?” Oh, wait – I was the one saying that. Still, some of you may have thought it, even if you didn’t say it out loud every day while shaking your fist the way I did.
Well, now that simple dream of me being on TV – a dream shared by me and perhaps a dozen of you – has come true. Starting Friday night, I’ll be on the new PBS news show, Need to Know (check local listings for time). I’ll be doing a comedy segment at the end of each week’s show called “Next Week’s News.” Now, before you start comparing me to Andy Rooney, I should say that I will not be behind a desk, nor will I spend the entire segment talking about my stapler.
I hope you’ll watch or DVR the show Friday night. If your local PBS affiliate doesn’t carry it, I hope you’ll email them and ask them to. And here’s something I’d really appreciate: please forward this letter to your friends, or share it via Facebook or Twitter. Let’s make this thing go viral, like one of those hilarious cat videos on YouTube, except that this is a current events show on PBS.
Remember, the Borowitz Report has always been and will always be free. So is PBS. So are Facebook and Twitter, for that matter. As far as I can tell, you never pay for anything. I ask for so little.
So thanks, in advance, for making an effort to watch the show and for spreading the word. And thanks, as always, for the support you’ve shown me over the years. Everything I do, I do for you.
Love,
Andy
