Latest on Florida Senate Seat...Crist, Rubio, Meek
Mason-Dixon: Crist 38, Rubio 32, Meek 19

Discuss This: Comments(0) | Add to del.icio.us | Digg it A new Mason-Dixon poll shows Gov. Charlie Crist leading a three-way race for U.S. Senate by 6 percentage points, but pollster Brad Coker warns the numbers may be a bit misleading.

Crist, a newly-minted independent, is drawing strong support from Democrats and African-American voters. Trouble for him is, that may be only temporary.

Fully 40 percent of voters say they still don’t know who Kendrick Meek is, and Coker said as Meek’s profile rises, those Democratic and African-American voters are likely to gravitate toward him. Meek, a Congressman from South Florida, is the likely Democratic nominee and is African-American.

“When you see that more than half of Crist voters are Democrats, that’s a big red warning sign,” said Coker.

Former House Speaker Marco Rubio appears well on his way to locking up the Republican vote. He’s capturing about 70 percent of the GOP, while Crist is getting 18 percent and Meek is getting 3 percent.

Among Democratic voters, 48 percent favor Crist, 36 percent support Meek and 4 percent back Rubio.

1. Maybe in Orlando, but here, I am seeing more Republicon/Independents
touting Crist. But maybe that is because I am in NWF, and everyone knows Rubio is the Drill, Baby, Drill candidate.

3. If Crist decides to veto HB 1143 (that awful anti-abortion bill)
you can probably count on him gaining more dems and moderate republicans than he had before.

If you're a Floridian, please call or email his office today and tell him to veto that horrific bill!

4. I'm sure he'll veto that horror. The repugs really got themselves in
a snit over the hug, didn't they? I mean I see guys hug each other all of the time. I'm convinced if Crist wins this he will caucus with the Dems. We're just nicer people and Charlie needs the change. I also think he really likes POTUS so there is that.

6. I did
I got an email from Planned Parenthood about this and sent an email to Crist. I also sent an email, on behalf of the teachers union, thanking him for vetoing that awful tenure/FCAT bill.

I am a transplant (reluctant) from the North. I am very used to being actively involved with elected officials from both sides of the aisle. Hopefully, more "natives" will also do so.
