CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Cleveland Metroparks Rangers have charged the driver of the car that jumped a curb and struck four people at a Polish parade Sunday with attempted vehicular manslaughter.

Kazimierz Chruscik, 67, of Cleveland, is in the custody of Rangers, a parks spokeswoman said this afternoon. He is also charged with failure to control. He is scheduled to appear in Garfield Heights Municipal Court Wednesday.

According to a written statement from the parks, an examination today of the 2002 Mitsubishi Galant involved in the accident showed no problems that could have led to the accident.

Investigators ruled early on that alcohol or drugs were not a factor in the accident. Chruscik has been convicted of driving under suspension in 2005 and 2007, Cleveland Municipal Court records show. He also has convictions for speeding, not keeping assured distance and driving to slow, records show.>
