David Obey: I Would Have Retired a Long Time Ago If Not For Meeting With Bush After 9-11

David Obey talked about his reasons for deciding to retire now and he said he would have retired a long time ago had it not been for a meeting with George W. Bush after 9-11 where he found got a taste of how Bush was going to govern; my way or the highway. Even though he and other members of the House had bipartisan agreement on additions to the budget they wanted to make, Bush wasn't interested in listening to any of their suggestions.

He also said he would not have retired now if he did not know that they had a good field of Democrats to take his place. Obey said he also wanted to make sure the health care bill passed and that it looked like the economy was moving back on track before he announced his plans to leave.

1. "Miss Me Yet"?
Our vaunted M$M is once again ramping up this plague of a family by putting Jebster's gum-flapping tirade against Obama in the news. America paid a grave price for selecting this shitbag fortunate son. Sure wish conservatives would wake up and get smarter; instead, they're getting far worse and more fanatical.

3. I must correct again. We did not elect (*)
at least in Fl, 360,000 dem voters were stricken from the rolls.
The 'butterfly' ballots were confusing because the punch holes did not line up with the names and in some cases you had to turn the page on the ballot to make the punch. Also at our precinct we had 'challengers' intimidating brown people who left rather than put up with that.
Then there is the proven computer vote flipping...

Too true many maroons voted for him, but he 'won' by election fraud and tampering.

4. Read again. I said "SElect", not "Elect".
Still, "close enough to steal twice" is bad enough.

2. Obey is one of the good guys ...
During those pained CSPAN years early in the Bush presidency I saw him a bit and took to him - you could tell just a smart, honest and hard working guy. I hope that they do have a dem lined up that can keep the seat, but even if they do, he will be missed.
