I am not buying that explanation as it seems so convenient. What do you think?

Stocks were down big yesterday on merit. Yesterday would have been a very bad day for the markets even if everything had worked perfectly.

However, the few minutes where the dow went from -400 to -1000 and back to -400 were about an electronic trading issue.
