Wow. If it's Friday afternoon, it's time for the latest installment in chickens-for-checkups. And this is one of the best yet.

Over a month after this controversy first cracked its way out of the shell and into national consciousness, Sue Lowden has now been forced to go up on the air with a TV ad trying to put it behind her.

But in the spot, she claims her initial remark was taken out of context, which it wasn't, ensuring that this story will keep going:

(snip)
Nope, this chicken is going to keep on clucking.

4. The vapid cow has just watched too many Westerns
Even in the Old West, the doctor needed goods and services he could use if a person couldn't pay cash, and the doctor always tried to get cash. Up front.

That means his horse and buggy might be stored on the cuff at the livery stable and he'd be fed for free by the restaurant in town or by grateful wives. It rarely meant he would be handed a live chicken or any other livestock, something he didn't have time to tend to unless he had a wife and a clutch of school age kids.
