Kate is a young domestic shorthair cat. Kate is between 1 and 2 years old and was recently rescued by the Animal League. Her unique markings and her affectionate personality have quickly earned her many hugs and kisses.
Kate Has a Belly Full of Babies
Kate was given a full examination and it was discovered that she was pregnant and very close to birthing time. She was immediately placed into our nursery where she was given a safe, clean place to nest in anticipation of the kittens to come.
Kate Gives Birth to a Litter of Five
The very next day, beautiful Kate gave birth to five healthy kittens. All mostly black in color, three females and two males began chirping and squeaking their way into all our hearts.
The Animal League’s HELP Program Saves Kate’s Life
Like all mothers with litters, Kate was placed into the Animal League’s life-saving Help Every Little Pet (HELP) Program where her every purr would be attended to. Had the Animal League not rescued Kate, there would be no telling what would have become of her and in turn – what would have become of her kittens...
Kate is an Exceptional Mother
We noticed that Kate was an exceptional mother. She and her kittens are always in a little pile and Kate attends to their every meow. In fact, Kate was such an extraordinary caretaker, that it gave us an idea. The Animal League had just rescued an orphaned kitten that needed a mother...
Kate is Also a Surrogate Mother
Two days after Kate gave birth, we added a beautiful calico orphan to her litter and watched with great anticipation. Kate sniffed the newest member of the kitten clan and lovingly accepted her instantly. Three days later, we added a second orphan who was only 1 day old. Without hesitation, Kate took this tiny kitten in as well.
Please Support the HELP Program
Your support of the HELP Program saved Kate and her kittens’ lives. Because of your HELP, Kate was not only able to mother her own kittens; she was able to care for two orphans that were deprived of their mother’s love.
Please continue to show your love so that mothers and litters have a chance at life.
