Poll question: Pick my new sig line quote. And contribute your own.
Edited on Sat May-05-07 01:40 PM by chaska
Had to edit out the long quotes. Not enough room. Dang, those were freakin' brilliant too.

The following are quotes by my favorite new thinker, Gene Downs; who just happens to bear a striking resemblance to one Chaska P. Coltrane (at your service). I figure it's time I contributed something to the world, even if it's my own goofball scriblings.

I collect quotes. I especially like to collect original quotes from unknown individuals (like all us here). So if you got one, don't be shy, fling that sucker.

...I wonder, will this take less time to fall off the page than it did to write? I'm betting yes.

1. There is a time when the operation of the machine becomes so odious

There is a time when the operation of the machine becomes so odious, makes you so sick at heart, that you can't take part; you can't even passively take part, and you've got to put your bodies upon the gears and upon the wheels, upon the levers, upon all the apparatus, and you've got to make it stop. And you've got to indicate to the people who run it, to the people who own it, that unless you're free, the machine will be prevented from working at all!

2. A suggestion for long quotes - mine, too was too long...
I made an image of it and now link to the image which is within the image size constraints. A little work around if you'd like to have one of your long quotes. ;)

6. I ran across this somewhere online...
"As democracy is perfected, the office of president represents, more and more closely, the inner soul of the people. On some great and glorious day the plain folks of the land will reach their heart's desire at last and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron." — H. L. Mencken

-- Baltimore Evening Sun, July 26, 1920

Its just too long to use all the time

10. Long since forgotten DU lore. Forgotten by me, at least. Started in the lounge, though.
