KS about to GUT schools and the numbnuts vote on smoking issues?
UPDATE – The Senate rejected two amendments that would have impacting gaming’s future in south central Kansas.

The first amendment, offered by Sen. Ty Masterson, R-Andover, would have eliminated the South Central Gaming Zone. That would have killed any future casino development in Sumner County. He called the amendment “a move to protect the people of Sedgwick County” who had rejected a casino.

Masterson said that Sumner County’s mail in ballot was “not a vote it was more of a mail in survey.”

The Senate also rejected an amendment offered by Senate Minority Leader Anthony Hensley, D-Topeka, that would have allowed Sedgwick County to vote for a second time on whether or not to allow slot machines at the Wichita Grayhound Park.

“I cannot believe that a senator in this chamber would take it upon himself to try to meddle in Sedgwick County’s business when we’ve already voted the voters have had their say,” said Sen. Les Donovan, R-Wichtia.

TOPEKA — The Senate is rolling the dice with a bill that was intended to make tweaks to the state’s gaming laws.

1. These idiots make me want to bang my head against the wall
They simply only support people losing jobs, their health and their homes. They do not support any form of expanding the tax base. If we had somehow gotten a Democratic majority in both houses while Sebelius was still governor (or with Parkinson now), the state would not be in this dire mess and this year's session would have ended weeks ago. The Party of No name is exceptinally apt today, as they certainly the party of no future and no progress.

3. Very True
Yesterday, the KS senate came up with a plan to raise revenue by a 1 cent sales tax and the house needs to get on board with it. It needs to happen NOW. Our district has already cut 14 million and needs to cut another 10 million if the legislature doesn't get their shit together and this is what they do instead... The district already cut driver's ed and fine arts could be next...

2. And abortion! Don't forget about abortion!!
They proposed a law regulating late term abortions. But they killed the only doctor in the state who performed them.

And when that didn't work, they proposed taxing abortions.

They are FREAKIN IDIOTS!!!!

5. It mystifies me how the voters keep electing these visionless and cowardly legislators
The Repubs have been had control the legislature for years now (decades? since 1861?) and the masses in this state obviously do not seem to mind. It is so frustrating to live in this state sometimes.
