Oh look children in this exhibit you can see the Utah Republicans eating their own.
Today is the Utah Republican Convention.

It has been stacked with crazy ass-ed tea party delegates.

Every zoo has one crazy ass-ed exhibit that no one can figure out what the animals are doing and in the Republican galaxy you would be hard pressed to find a more crazy ass-ed bunch of nuts.

Many expect them to wipe out Senator Bennett so that his name will not even be on the primary.

In Utah the Republican convention nominates the top two candidates that go on the primary ballot.

So children if you look over at this exhibit you can see Utah Republicans eating their own.

Bon Appetite.

So far this is what has happened:

House Rules chairman out, two others sent to primaries

Utah Republican delegates have ousted the chairman of the Utah House Rules Committee and forced two moderate House members into June primaries.

Utah Highway Patrol Lt. Lee Perry grabbed 60.3 percent of the delegate vote in District 2 to clinch the GOP nomination. Longtime Rep. Ben Ferry fell less than one-half of one percentage point short of holding on to force a runoff.

Ferry, a rancher and businessman from Corinne, has enjoyed relatively easy elections in the past. He is the son of one-time Senate President Miles "Cap" Ferry.

In other shakeups at today's GOP Convention, Reps. Mel Brown and Becky Edwards must prevail in June 22 primaries to hold onto their House seats.

Brown is an 18-year veteran of the Legislature, and previously served as House speaker. The farmer/businessman finished second in House District 53 delegate balloting to general contractor Jon Hellander, but the incumbent's 43.1 percent was enough to keep him in the race.

Edwards is in her first term from House District 20 in Davis County. Just two years ago she defeated incumbent Paul Neuenschwander to take the seat. She now heads to a primary with D.J. Schanz, a business owner.

Bennett brought in Mitt Romney to help beg for his job.

1. Utah must be jealous of the attention Arizona is getting.
Looks over at Arizona, screams out, "You think that's crazy, watch this"!

3. Bennett survives the first cut
http://www.sltrib.com/news/ci_15046264

Three-term Sen. Bob Bennett has survived the first round in the most important bout of his political career.

Delegates at the Utah Republican Convention today kept Bennett in the running on the first round of balloting. But it isn't over yet. He advances with two others -- Mike Lee and Tim Bridgewater --- to a second round of voting. One of the three will be eliminated in the upcoming ballot.

Bennett finished third in the eight-way race.

Attorney Mike Lee finished first in the first round of balloting with 982 votes -- 29 percent -- followed by Bridgewater with 27 percent and Bennett with 26 percent.

6. As a former Utahn, I'll tell you this is not good news.
Sure, we could stand to finally kick an old Utah GOPer (Bennett) to the curb...BUT, it's not "us" doing it. It's the baggers and a sign of their rising power.

Not good. Not good at all.

8. Do really think that anybody but the far right will see this and think it is a good idea.

In the rest of the country moderate Republicans and independents will see this for the insanity it is.

Florida
Arizona
Utah

The Republican Party is going through a psychotic episode.

The other thing that should be noted is that the mob that just tossed Bennett out of the party agrees on only on thing - getting rid of Bennett.

When it comes to actually being for policies they will divide and continue to eat their own.

Bennett out; GOP delegates reject 18-year Senate veteran

http://www.sltrib.com/news/ci_15046264

Three-term Sen. Bob Bennett was driven from office Saturday by anti-incumbency rage and hostility toward Washington, becoming the first victim of the rising discontent.

Bennett was bounced from office on the second round of balloting, failing to finish ahead of attorney Mike Lee and businessman Tim Bridgewater, who move on to the final round.

If neither Bridgewater nor Lee receives 60 percent of the delegate vote they will square off in a June 22 primary.

Bennett becomes the first Utah senator to fail to get his party's nomination since Democrats tossed out Sen. William King in 1940 over King's opposition to the New Deal.

When the results were announced, there was a huge ovation with shouts and yells of "He's gone! He's gone!" Delegates leapt to their feet, and embraced and waved "Do Not Tread On Me" flags
