Kenneth Starr to become President of Baylor University
Leaving the oceanside cliffs of Malibu for the dusty plains of Waco is rather like leaving the Garden of Eden to go wander in the desert. It’s a choice few would make willingly. On hearing of his impending move to Texas, one is tempted to ask Kenneth Starr, the former Whitewater prosecutor, if he accidentally bit the wrong apple.

On June 1, Mr. Starr vacates the deanship of Pepperdine University School of Law to become president of Baylor University.

Topographically, it is a drastic move, but it is also a promotion to a more visible pulpit. Pepperdine is affiliated with the evangelical Church of Christ; Baylor is the world’s largest Baptist university. With this new job, the former solicitor general, the man who helped bring Paula Jones to prime time, completes a rebirth as one of America’s most prominent Christian educators.

But in leaving the pacific, and Pacific, Pepperdine campus, Mr. Starr is returning to a world of Washington-like rancor. Baylor is emerging from 20 years of religious controversy, during which Baptist moderates fought Baptist fundamentalists. At the same time, it was ambitiously, and painfully, transformed into a major research university. The upheaval cost one president his job, and it made the name Baylor unspeakable in some religious circles.

4. Waco is a good place for him.
The Baptists can get really goofy at their general conventions. Downright nasty. Full of hypocrites. I was Roman Catholic raised in Texas. I knew lots of Baptists. Even married to one for a couple of years. :hide:

I like to listen to some of their religious bu$hit. They talk a good line of sh!t, but for the most part they are usually hypocrites.

I lived through the "wet/dry" county elections.

Lots of good jokes about Baptists, like: Where do you find alcohol on a Saturday night in a "dry" county in Texas? Find a Baptist deacon.......... he sells it out of his house.

I was married to a soft shell Baptist. She drank and danced on Saturday night and hugged the Good Book on Sunday.

I'd be more than happy to spend eternity in Hell if Ken Starr is in the cell next to mine.

I still have Baptist friends. We don't talk religion anymore. Since I don't go, and they don't either, makes us even. :fistbump:

5. Poor Texas, but great for us Californians.
I hope he stays out of public life. Maybe some day we can find a good treasonous reason to throw his ass in prison. I really believe that somewhere there could be a law that makes it a treasonous act to delve into the private life of a sitting President, distracting that sitting President from his duties and making our nation vulnerable to attack. If there isn't such a law, there should be one.
