But hey. You know we're in good hands because the oil rig exploded on April 20 and sank two days after their little safety party on EARTH DAY, April 22. So it's environmentally FRIENDLY oil drilling! Just ask Sarah Palin!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

11. I did mull this over.....

Having been to both the Gnome site (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Project_Gnome) and the Nevada Test Site, I was wondering when someone would dredge this up as a possible solution. Of course, all the people who worked on Operation Plowshare and could critique the technical feasibility of this idea have long since retired. Personally, I don't see how pounding on the overburden is going to cause it to hermetically seal, rather than just fracture it more.

But if it goes on leaking for 3 years, maybe some desperation method will have to be used.
