I need help regarding the Tea Baggers...
I am pretty sure the originators of the group are the ones who initially called it "tea bagging". Some fool is trying to tell me it was started by Democratic operatives. PLEASE LET THIS NOT BE TRUE. I am fairly certain it is not, but I am in the midst of it (so to speak) and want to nail this monkey.

Can anyone shed a little light? :hi:

as well as the illiteracy by blaming it all on the Democrats. Yawn.

The Teabaggers are and always have been a top down movement started by ranters on radio and TV, most notably Glen Beck, who are all GOP party flacks. They called themselves "Teabaggers" after the only symbolic form of tea the ignoramuses knew about and without checking the Urban Dictionary.

This is disinformation of the worst kind.

See, these idiots are obviously too dumb to realize these days what an internet paper trail they leave that can easily counter their denials....

19. It could be; the html code says "sheehan", and I don't want to use it with the wingnut, for obvious
reasons. I am pretty sure the wingnut will not be coming back about the origins of the teabagging movement.

but if that really is a genuine picture of her, she was probably hamming it up for the camera. No biggie.

11. What a nasty thing to say on Mothers Day
I think of Cindy every year on this day. Casey was killed just a few weeks before Mothers Day.

I hope you never lose a loved one and then have someone belittle YOU.

17. you are certainly NOT missing anything, proud2BlibKansan's making hay where there is none to be made
and it is pretty fucking rude of them to do so. Proud2BlibKansan has no fucking IDEA of my family's service to this nation, or that who I've lost on the battlefield. This is assholery, plain and simple, and it NEVER should have gone there.

I was *really* asking whether that was a pic of Cindy Sheehan. I wasn't linking her to teabaggers, and if proud2BlibKansan tried to make it that, they owe everyone here an apology for substituting their judgement for mine. It's bullshit, and assholery, and I won't tolerate it. My motives are pure, and I wont stand by for this foolishness. No way. No how.

15. Dear proud2BlibKansan, if you open the pic in another browser, it says SHEEHAN
it very well may have been photoshopped, but it ABSOLUTELY says that. So shove your sanctimony, I didn't ONE FUCKING THING that was offensive. I only asked if that was Cindy Sheehan. Thanks

Again, shove it.

It's a picture often posted on right wing sites that belittle Cindy. It's been posted here as well by those who like to criticize her.

My apologies. I am so used to seeing Cindy slammed here that I assumed you were doing so as well.

9. Origin of the term Teabaggers?
It came from the movement itself, when they asked people to "teabag" Obama by sending symbolic teabags, apparently ignorant of the college prank of the same name. This was all well documented, including here: http://www.lemondrop.com/2009/04/10/gop-wants-to-teabag-barack-obama/

If they don't want to be called Teabaggers, they shouldn't use "teabag" as a verb, as found on their t-shirts or signs which are easily seen in Google Images searches. It's pretty basic to call someone who teabags a teabagger, so I'm surprised some are now taking offense. Maybe there is a split between the teabaggers on this issue?

13. Here ya go, LaydeeBug....
The National Review Online, a major wingnut site did the research and published their findings. So just smash this link in your opponent's face and tell them to go take their grievances up with National Review and leave you alone.

http://nrd.nationalreview.com/article/?q=Mjk1YmRjNzIxNmUwMTI0ZWYxZWU4OWU2MzFiOWJmNDE=

The first big day for this movement was Tax Day, April 15. And organizers had a gimmick. They asked people to send a tea bag to the Oval Office. One of the exhortations was “Tea Bag the Fools in D.C.” A protester was spotted with a sign saying, “Tea Bag the Liberal Dems Before They Tea Bag You.” So, conservatives started it: started with this terminology. But others ran with it and ran with it.

22. This topic came up in one of my poly sci classes
and one kid in my class (who was wearing a glenn beckkk t-shirt) said only the tea baggers should be able to say that about themselves because it is like blacks using the "n" word. He said that they can call themselves the word but no one else can. i was appalled that my teacher didn't ask him to leave class or to talk to him after about it!

"send tea bags to washington"

Here's one link from February 2009:

http://readmylipsticknetwork.blogspot.com/2009/02/send-tea-bag-to-washington-modern-tea.html

Send a Tea Bag to Washington; Modern Tea Party
Although the goal for this one is to have the tea bags in hand tomorrow, I think if they get there this week it'll still send the right message. Even sending a fax picture of a tea bag works. Send an email with the word "TEA BAG TEA PARTY" as the message (I'd imagine attached clip art will end up in spam file somewhere).

The idea was originally about "sending a message" via tea bags, hence the nickname: teabagger
