Man who married teen in Kansas is leaving prison

A Falls City, Neb., man sentenced for sexual assault after impregnating and then marrying a now-15-year-old girl was expected to be released from prison today.
Matthew Koso, 24, has served 15 months of his 18- to 30-month sentence for first-degree sexual assault, according to the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services.
Authorities said Koso began a sexual relationship with Crystal Guyer when she was 13 and he was 22. After she became pregnant, her mother gave permission for Koso to take her to Kansas, which allows minors to get married with parental consent.

After an investigation by the Nebraska Attorney General's Office, Koso was charged in July 2005 with first-degree sexual assault, a crime punishable by up to 50 years in prison.
"The idea . . . is repugnant to me," Attorney General Jon Bruning said at the time. "These people made the decision to send their . . . 14-year-old daughter to Kansas to marry a pedophile."

IF I remember correctly, Matt has a mental disability. And others without this disability that did the same thing were not touched. Attorney General Jon Bruning is considering running in the Nebraska primary for Senate against Chuck Hagel next spring.
