Americans have a lot to be proud of ... I just wanted to share my
hectic weekend with you. I worked all week, left Vancouver shortly before midnight on Friday, May 7 for Montreal, arrived there at 7.00 am, May 8, went to get my Mom from Dorval and flew out at 11.30 am same day via Delta Airlines (not the best) for New York. Whilst reaching NY via JFK, I saw some spectacular houses and was later told it was Long Island. I flew out of NY (La Guardia) on May 9 to Chicago to connect to Vancouver.

I saw some beautiful places whilst arriving into NY and Chicago, you all have a lot to be proud of. Just a side note, my brother-in-law who got laid off feels that President Obama's economic recovery plans is not working fast enough but he did say that he can collect unemployment for up to three years, he got a job offer out of state but it would be too stressful for the family plus the new job offer does not come with benefits to fly him from Texas to NY on weekends. The short story is that because he got laid off, he is disenchanted with the current administration so I told him it would take years for President Obama to clean up after the massive boat load of crap he inherited, he agreed. Then my sister chimes in saying that after President Obama cleans up, the next President to get elected will get all the praise.

That is so true. However, visiting your beautiful country even though it was so short, I really now know what a beautiful place America is, the teababblers need to go.

If am rambling, it is because am tired but I just wanted to share my weekend with you. Then am off on my vacation to England, Spain, Portugal and Morocco.

Please be nice to each other whilst am away.

Best regards

1. We do have a wonderful, beautiful country.
In addition, for the most part, Americans are kind, generous people. We are very lucky.

3. I totally agree with you but asking for assistance via Delta sucks,
I had to push my Mom on her wheelchair to the boarding gate and you know what was funny, going through US Immigration in Montreal to NY was so effing belittling, my Mom could not get out of the wheelchair but the checking person proceeded to check every part of the wheel chair (as if I had brought if from Vancouver), pat her between her legs, back, buttom, etc, I was pissed. Then I went through and she waved me away, and I said, hey .. you should give me the fifth degree, you just did the third on an 80 year old woman. That part of the US I dislike.

2. You know, the next time some Canadian wants to tell America how much they have to be proud of...
and how beautiful their country is, before they go off on their long European Holiday (which, you know, you all take eh, while Americans toil), you need to take a long look in the mirror and around you.

A long hard look, mind you!

:)

5. I'm actually being a bit kind

But you wouldn't know it.

I meet people all the time here on Vancouver Island that tell me how beautiful my old home is...but I'm sorry...I live on Vancouver Island...you can't get lost finding water and ocean views. Really...does anything compare to this? And to top it off, people go on holiday constantly or live abroad with fun, exciting experiences. Where I come from, its exciting to drive to the next town over for the county fair.

Canadians sometimes seem terrible at tooting their own horns. Its like they specialize in selling themselves short, or I just misperceive it. At the same time, it also seems like they gloss over the bad just as quickly too. What...is everyone on Paxil here?

Yet they never miss an opportunity to throw a complement. Refreshing...but, hell...just appreciate the incredibleness of what you got...I guess thats what I'm saying. And I know many do (and being complementary is not mutually exclusive)

Life isn't a pissing contest and its not about comparisons. I just can't honestly ever see other places the same way after living as I do now. I hope everyone in BC appreciates what they have too. What an amazing place to live.

6. I know you are an American living in BC from reading your posts on
here, but give me a fucking break if I find that America is beautiful, flying over NY and into Chicago was mind boggling, and I kept saying to myself, if only the teababblers would give President Obama a chance, more like me would be excited about your country. The shit your country put other people through, some of us don't like, but that was Bush's policy.

I was just giving my opinion, guess that is not acceptable here anymore. Mr. Skinner will have to redo the rules of posting ... do not give any compliments to the US!

7. I think I set you off
Most everything I say is a bit sarcastic to start with, so really, no need for a pissing match, right? My tone wasn't to admonish you, though I understand how you can take it like that.

My original response was simply saying that you ought to also look around you. Its beautiful...amazing too. Its tough to compare anything to it. For me, its tough to be actually impressed with anything after seeing it (and Ive lived in quite a few places in the US, from the west to the east coast, as well as the South).

Yeah, there is beauty in a lot of things, as well as pain; so much can be seen in a trip. And things can also be look different with various emotional contexts attached. Its all in the eye of the beholder, and you are as free to mention it as the next person

I hope you enjoy your vacation

10. Nah, you did not set me off, I like your take on things. Living in a
country is totally different from flying over or passing through. But you gotta love Ohare Airport, one of the best I've seen so far. YVR is wonderful also.

Thanks, I sure will enjoy my vacation, first time visiting Europe.

Best regards
