So-called hard liners say they'd bring back public hanging. Heck, why stop there? Go all the way back and bring back crucifixion.

I've been in Internet debates with conservatives who say we're too soft to deal effectively with the range of trouble-makers out there. Illegal aliens. Terrists. Pornographers. They not only advocate tougher penalties, but nastier ones, too.

Bring back flogging! Ban loose women, zoot suits and vagrants! But let's not hesitate to use crucifixion. If it's in the Bible, it can't be all that bad. </sarcasm>

We can't have the newspapers reporting that Republicans got stoned. In keeping with the way the military likes to name things, the new term should sound vaguely therapeutic. How about boulderizing? Nah, the citizens of Boulder, Colorado would object.

The term might combine geology with say, nutrition. R.E.T. = Rockslide Emulation Treatment? Used in a sentence, We RET'd the adulteress. Let that be an example!
