PA DU'ers...Can Specter run as an Independent?
I wouldn't out it past him to do so after losing to Sestak...what a clusterphuck of a race that would be.

1. They will have to create more parties for Specter to run
once he's annoyed Rethugs, Dems, Indies, Greens?

I don't know...I've mellowed over the years vis-a-vis Specter. I prefer Sestak, for sure, but I just can't get the righteous anger up for Specter like I can for some others...

4. If he could do it, he would so that Toomey would win. I heard (on DU) that he can't run as
an independent after losing a primary because of a PA "sore loser" law. I couldn't verify it by searching.

5. Independent candidates and minor party candidates MUST PRESENT MORE THAN
67,000 signatures before the filing deadline in order to appear on the ballot in PA elections...I almost always sign these petitions when I see one circulation, no matter how looney the party or candidate - we usually have some Green Party and occasionally some Constitutional Party candidates running, but very few real indies - takes lots of support and CASH which few people have. This does keep many of the real nut jobs out, but it puts the 2 major parties firmly in power and makes it near impossible to dislodge them. Both parties are pretty corrupt in PA.

Most of the minor parties get next to nothing as far as actual votes -

6. And who would benefit most?........................
Toomey or Sestak? I would assume that Arlen would take votes away from both, but who would he take MORE votes from?

7. Nope, that ship has sailed.
Had he wanted to run as an independent, he needed to file ages ago. Too late now.

8. A PA DUer posted yesterday
that he can't do it - that it's too late after the primary. I don't have the link sorry.
