28%er @ my employer gives advice about Middle East....

...we have a Bush Kool-Aid drinker at my workplace who gave us his opinion yesterday at lunchtime about what to do in Iraq. First, bringing up the ever increasing unpopularity of the squatter in the WH, we asked if he's still sipping the tainted juice. His response was that Bush has to fight from two sides. He's fighting "the enemy" in Iraq that is in front of him and he's fighting the Democrats who are attacking him from behind.

Asked who he liked in the debates he said, Mitt Romney. Whatever happens, the Democrats can't be allowed to win the Presidency because we'll be attacked by Iran. His solution to "solving" the (imaginary) Iranian threat is to ..."point 500 nuclear weapons at Iran and tell them that if a bomb goes off in the US you will be nuked".....

I guess it never occurred to this wingnut that to make such statements publicly to Iran, as policy, presents an opportunity for an enemy of Iran to take advantage of. Blow up a US city and then watch the US "nuke" it's enemy.

I look at my sane colleague with a look as if to say - what a lunatic - We find his comments interesting, sort of like how people slow down at car accidents to look at what happened and then continue on....

5. Of Course.....I think ..(Like DU), I'm running at 1/2 speed today.
As to your co-worker, I also have had such associates in my workplace.
I remember when 9/11 happened, the lot of them came up with the brilliant idea
that the USA should blow all the Middle East off of the map with Bombs.

I got into a BIG yelling match with the idiots.
(Telling them.."Oh Fuck Yeah, Let's just Murder 300 million Innocent people because we're pissed off about having 3000 of ours murdered...Real Smart and Humane")

3. Tell your "28%er" that
bush needs to get the fuck over in Iraq and fight "the enemy" and let the Dems take care of the business of getting out of a War On Iraq based on buSHIT LIES AND getting our country out of the cesspool of bush's creation.

The 28%er needs to stop imbibing the spiked koolaid and cease listening to toyko rush and get himself into rehab.

4. The 28%ers don't understand M.A.D. at all
Nor does BushCo. It's precisely why viewing everything in black and white is dangerous.

6. I hear that from others
"Just nuke em"

People that are more or less apolitical,(and not very smart, quite frankly, kind of average though) but somehow believe in the omniscient power of the US.
One guy in particular doesn't like bush, but thinks "nuking Iran" is a solution. Weird. I brought up the potential reaction from other Countries if we took such a course, for instance China-- "They won't do anything, I'm mean who buys their shit?" I told him most Muslims ARE NOT "terrorists", and we'd be murdering millions of innocents--"It's us or them"

I only argued to see where he was getting the mind set from-- and what it boiled down to was fear and racism, Very scary combination.

He isn't really a bad guy is the thing, he's got a nephew in Iraq--Baghdad yet-- he's worried sick about, and that just reinforces his need for a tangible "enemy". It's fucked up.

7. Bush is fighting two sides - Both by his own choice
Bush didn't have to invade Iraq - He wanted to invade Iraq in the worst way. And so he did.

And now that he's screwed up even worse than his puppetmasters thought possible, he's having to fight a second enemy, reality as embodied by the Democrats. Even your co-worker can probably figure out what happens when someone chooses to struggle against cold, hard reality. You lose every time. You can't bargain with a hungry bear, and you can't negotiate with gravity. The only solution is to recognize reality and avoid hungry bears and falls from high places.

Bush is having problems, that's for sure. But they're problems of his own making.
