Perhaps a little perspective is in order.

If the sandbox is costing us $200,000 a minute then

5 minutes = $1 million
60 minutes = $12 million
24 hours = $288 million
1 week = $2,016 billion
4.3 weeks = $8,668.8 billion

This is your tax dollars (not) at work here, folks.

It's being grabbed off the table before anything else, including aid to cities and towns, education, grants, etc. etc. It's your local library budget, roads and bridges in your communities. It's your teachers, firemen and policemen. It's your commuter rail, public transportation and museums. It's Social Security and Medicare. It's the environment and space.

Basically, it's everything which does have a direct connection to war.

Pretty much everything except the war machine is paying the price.

4. Big k/r
This is (one of) the 800 lb Gorillas in the Corner that no one wants to talk about.

So it's been just over 7 years that we've been in Afghanistan. At an average of 8 billion a month, that's 96 billion a year.

At 7 years, that's more than 672 billion tax dollars. :puke:

5. Giving them freedom, sure
is costing us a hell of a lot. Not counting some of our other most precious resources. You know, our troops that have been killed or maimed. Send our so called fucking leaders over there and make them stay there till "their" war is over.

6. Why can't you be patient?
It takes a long time to get things done.

7. Obama's been in for nearly 18 months and I really don't see anything changing in the sandbox.
Dubya's 'withdrawal timetable', dubya's military commission, the PATRIOT Act, offshore drilling, veterans treatment, veterans housing, veterans health care and of course, that HUGH elephant in the room - the $1 trillion dollar military budget.
