Gee. You do what Sue Lowden recommends, and look what happens.

Allegations, concerns follow White Sulphur Springs' new doctor

By ERIN MADISON • Tribune Staff Writer • May 9, 2010

WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS — A new doctor at Mountainview Medical Center has caused a stir here.

Dr. Michael Jenkins came to White Sulphur Springs in November with a tarnished background.

Jenkins, who grew up in Dillon, was issued a probationary medical license by the Montana Board of Medical Examiners because he failed to inform the board that he had been denied a license in Nevada, was discharged from his residency training program and was accused of allegedly bartering sexual services in exchange for plastic surgery in Nevada.

A number of White Sulphur Springs-area residents have expressed concerns about Jenkins since his arrival.

At a monthly hospital board meeting in late April, several community members spoke out about Jenkins allegedly taking some local high school boys for a ride in his Chevy Corvette at speeds of up to 140 miles per hour.

1. "professionals" have always bartered, but the IRS is very interested these days
In my hometown, it was common practice for the local dentists to "trade" braces for cars:) No one had dental insurance back then and braces were quite pricey...but the car dealers in town traded new cars with dealer plates for the dentists in town who gave their kids braces..:)

Tradesmen bartered all the time too..

need a new roof for that auto repair shop?..the roofing company gets auto repairs

plumbing need some attention? let's make a deal:)

Even recently there's been causal bartering going on.. My son has a contractor's license, is bonded and insured, and his landlord gave him rent-credit for re-tiling some of the apartments.. of course my son reported the income and did everything legally...what the landlord did is another story..between him and his tax-man:)

3. No one I know reports barter goods to the IRS.
Just like they don't report sales tax on things they buy over the internet.
