Can the Republicans filibuster every SCOTUS nominee |
through President Obama's term(s) and prevent President Obama from appointing a single judge? Is this a legal possibility? Are safeguards in place to prevent this from happening?

1. I don't know, but I promise they won't |
He won't appoint a liberal. Kagan is moderate, I think they will pass her fairly quickly.

2. With 41 votes, damned straight they could. |
I don't know if they'd be willing to expend the political capital doing so, though.

7. There will be no filibuster of Ms. Kagan's nomination |
Its almost never done and in this case she has no judicial record on which to base one, so it won't happen.

9. no they can't...if they do Democrats can use the nuclear option |
Or the President can do a recess appointment. The filibuster would probably prolong the process but it'd eventually happen.
