Dog sticks by owner, trapped under tractor
Edited on Tue May-11-10 11:35 AM by mahatmakanejeeves
I love the picture.

KENT PORTER/The Press Democrat

Windsor and Healdsburg firefighters methodically go about extricating Lorri Herrick after the tractor she was driving rolled over on her, just south of Healdsburg. Her husband, Greg Herrick, left, scoots out of the way of firefighters. The family dog, Brady, would not leave the tractor until Lorri was pulled out.

Healdsburg woman escapes major injuries in tractor rollover

A 48-year-old Healdsburg woman was pinned under a tractor Saturday afternoon after the rig flipped backward on top of her as she drove up a hill on the family vineyard.
....

After more than 30 minutes, the crew finally freed her.
....

“It’s a rare case of someone being able to survive a tractor roll-over,” {Fire Capt. Robert Bisordi, with the Rincon Valley Fire Protection District} said. “It’s a very dangerous thing.”

Lorri Herrick’s injuries include burns from diesel fuel and some lacerations, her husband said. The tractor broke her left arm.
....

As she entered surgery on her arm late Saturday night, her husband was joined in the waiting room by her daughter.

Though they lived just miles away, in Healdsburg and Santa Rosa, the mother and daughter had let life’s struggles get between them, Herrick said.

But after the accident, they decided no hurts were worth being estranged.

“In a weird way, it’s a Mother’s Day gift,” Herrick said.

I pulled the title and the picture from the Orange County Register.

17. I'm happy to hear that she survived.
Living in an ag area, we hear of a tractor rollover every other year or so. The options are usually 1) Jump clear, or 2) Die. We just had a 98 year old farmer die a few miles from us last year, and he'd been driving tractors for nearly 90 years. He turned just so, the ground shifted just so, and the whole thing flipped on top him. The only solace for his family was in the fact that his death was instant, and that he died living the life he wanted. It's very rare that someone stays on the tractor and survives the rollover.

As odd as it may sound, it was her lucky day!
