Thieves take controversial Mojave Desert cross
By ROBERT JABLON, Associated Press Writer Robert Jablon, Associated Press Writer – 51 mins ago

LOS ANGELES – Thieves have stolen a cross in the Mojave Desert that honored American war dead, less than two weeks after the U.S. Supreme Court allowed the religious symbol to remain on federal land.

The 7-foot-high cross was stolen late Sunday or early Monday by thieves who cut the metal bolts that attached the symbol to a rock in the sprawling desert preserve, National Park Service spokeswoman Linda Slater said.

Authorities had no immediate motive for the theft but ideas range from scrap metal scavengers to people "with an interest in the case," Slater said.http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20100511/ap_on_re_us/us_mojave_cross

2. Must be.
If He had wanted it to remain, He would've made the bolts stronger.

6. I approve of having an eyesore removed from natural beauty
but I know the theocrats will respond by putting up a bigger, uglier one.

5. I care, in the sense that I don't like vandalism.
It was wrong for whoever took it down to have done so.
It was obviously an illegal act, and they should be caught and prosecuted.

7. It's a damn shame those religio-nutjobs vandalized public property
with their occult symbol in the first place.
