Thinking of young-ish Beau Biden having a stroke: For women on Birth Control Pills...
Edited on Tue May-11-10 03:30 PM by Kurt_and_Hunter
My first thought when I heard about Beau Biden having a stroke at 41 (after thinking "I hope it's not a bad one") was genetics because his dad had that aneurysm surgery at a fairly young age.

But if he were a 41 year old woman my first thought would have been the pill. The stroke risk from birth control pills is meaningful, even for relatively young women.

And the risk from the pill while smoking is crazy... seriously not safe.

Really. If you smoke you might consider quiting or using another contraceptive method.

One doesn't think of women under 40 having strokes but it's surprisingly common.

(I post this PSA here about once a year because I've actually known several relatively young women in good health who had had strokes.)

Do not even prevent pregnancies.

So for those uninformed women who wanna stroke out at an early age in order to rid themselves of acne, they have it set up nicely.

What is always important in this nation, is that the profits of Big Pharma are protected, in every possible way.

Which is why "Big Pharma" Waxman is going after the vitamin C manufacturers, rather than those who make statins that induce ALS by lowering the body's reserve of Co Q 10.
He conveniently ignores the dozens if not hundreds of prescription meds that contain benzene and other nasties. (Something that was not allowed fifteen or twenty years - but now everyone in Congress is so sold out that the Big Pharma people do as they please.)

2. Frankly , risking your life with a pill while a simple rubber on your man's wee wee will work is
crazy .... does not make sense to me.

3. i risk my life just by living ... the convenience and benefits of the pill
far outweigh the risks in my opinion. your period disappears, your acne clears up, your endometriosis is reduced (my doctor told me being on the pill was the best thing i could have done for the endometriosis that runs in my family, which i didn't even really know i had until my doc did my tubal ligation, that's how much better the pill made it). a lot better to take a pill every day, than to have to futz around with rubbers, or foams, or creams, or jellies, or IUD, etc.

4. You shouldn't even have to explain yourself.
The pill has many benefits for many people in many ways.

But please don't smoke while taking it.

5. A doctor advised me to stop taking the pill for that reason
because I was getting vision-disturbance migraines. So I stopped, and I don't get vision-disturbance migraines anymore.

8. My friend had debilitating blood clots in her calve as a result of
smoking and being on the pill at the same time. She was 23. It nearly destroyed her because she was a server without insurance. That was a very difficult time for her. :-(
