Do you think a Senator will ask Kagan about her sexual orientation in the hearings? |
|
I actually think that would be best: make the Republic senators look petty, going after her sexuality, and then because it would be under oath, she'd have to answer, in which case no serious person could accuse her of "pushing a homosexual agenda". If she is asked that question, she could answer it truthfully and make the Republic Party look petty.

That way, if kagan comes out, the GOP will reveal it's gay bashing, and Obama will not be able to pull out of supporting her.

26. That's just a jump away from teabaggers demanding it |
|
They don't even need a hop and a skip.
The teabaggers will be protesting demanding she e asked.
And all of the Republicans on the committee will push the issue out of fear for the consequences the teabaggers will wreak.
If you don't think Bob Bennett's fate doesn't weigh heacily on the minds of EVERY elected Republican at EVERY level, you're naive.

because the Senate is an old boy's bastion of misogyny that only reluctantly admitted women and still doesn't allow them in many of the prime deal making meetings outside the Senate.
Just once I'd like to see a woman who's honest enough to tell them, "I'm over 50. I don't have a sex life thanks to the presence of men my age confining themselves to bars catering to the college crowd."
Just once. Please.

17. Yes, they'll ask. Look at people like Joe Wilson. |
|
Look at their silence when Teabaggers spat on and slurred Congressional Democrats of long, respected community standing. It's not like the current ranks of Congressional Repukes are known for their tact and restraint. I assure you, there is SOMEONE in the Senate who will be picked as the sacrificial lamb to ask that question.

25. It won't get that far |
|
Either one of two things are going to happen:
1) Someone comes forth with 'evidence' or an anecdote before the hearings, and she is outed that way.
2) No one comes up with anything, either because there's nothing there, or nobody who does have any knowledge about Kagan's being lesbian takes the bait that will surely be dangled by the tabloids.
If we get to the hearings without anything blowing up in our faces, the Senate will not ask the question, they'll consider her 'vetted' on that subject.

and I hope she says, "I'll show you mine, if you'll show me yours." and then tells him to f'off.
Her orientation doesn't matter. (Though from what I've read of her, being a lesbian would be the biggest plus I can find for her. Being a closeted lesbian, not so much. . . Actually, come to think of it - wouldn't it be the greatest thing ever if she WAS completely ASEXUAL? That would really mess wit the fundies' heads, wouldn't it?

that will probably open some avenues of questioning. In that case, she might get asked whether she would support the "homosexual agenda" and its advocates, "such as this, uh...homosexual activist group you once belonged to, or worked for," in overturning various Federal laws like DOMA on a 14th amendment appeal. She will get asked about DADT and how her uh...personal past and record of "butting heads with the Army and banishing military recruiters from campus, but not the other kind of recruiters, like Gay and Lesbian and Trans gender Student groups - did I say that right, Ma'am, uh pronunciation wise? Trans-GEND-der? Is that right?" would influence her ruling in any case touching on DADT that reaches the Supreme Court.
