New Seattle PD abuse allegations surface
By MEG COYLE / KING 5 News

SEATTLE – More allegations of police brutality are surfacing in response to video of Seattle police stomping on a Latino suspect and using racially charged words.

Martin Minetti, 21, has been identified as the man on the video being stomped on by Det. Shandy Cobane during the robbery investigation near Lake Union on April 17.

Minetti was ultimately let go. Two other men, Pedro Jose Martinez and Hector Veteta-Contreras, were arrested and charged with first-degree robbery that night.

Martinez' girlfriend, Alejandra Hurtado, says both those men were victims, too.

2. We know lots of law enforcement in the area
At the same time, we want the bad apples weeded out.

SPD, it's time to clean house. Let's hope the new chief has spine of steel and the courage to follow it through.

3. I've worked with many SPD officers
as well as officers from other jurisdictions. In my experience, most are decent people doing a tough job. There are bad apples though, and they need to go.

4. My husband is at his volunteer job tonight at a local police department
I have to agree with you. The vast majority are good people doing an almost impossible job.

I can't imagine how frustrating it must be for them to deal with those in their ranks that need to find another line of work.
