Woman: Debt Collectors Used Racial Slurs
Black Woman Says Collectors Called Her A 'Bigger'

TAMPA,Fla. -- Teletha Williams has been living a life of telephone terror at the hands of international debt collectors.

The single mother of two said she has been badgered for months by callers in New Dehli who resorted to bizarre harrassment that, at times, smacked of racial overtones.

In one call, an unidentified man with a thick Indian accent taunted her with laughter as he said, "Teletha Williams you are a bigger. You are a bigger. You bigger Teletha. Pick up the phone."

Williams is black and was rattled by the constant bizarre messages.

"I had enough," Williams said. "I had enough."

She hired Morgan and Morgan's consumer protection attorney Billy Howard.

Howard reviewed the recordings and filed suit against Midland Credit Management.

"You can tell by the tone that they're trying to call her the racial epithet," Howard said.

Incredibly, the wave of telephone calls were all over a $200 phone bill.
