Northrop gets $187M design contract for Ford

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. — The Navy has awarded Northrop Grumman Corp. a $186.6 million contract modification to continue engineering and design for the nuclear powered aircraft carrier Gerald Ford.

The official kickoff ceremony for construction of the $7 billion Gerald Ford was held in November.

Northrop’s shipbuilding unit is the prime contractor on the project.

The carrier, scheduled for delivery to the Navy in 2015, will be the first in the Ford-class series in honor of the 38th president’s service in the Navy.

The latest contract modification funds additional design, planning and system integration activities, and analysis.

2. The DOD budget is obscene -

not only is the annual appropriation a half trillion, every two or three months they ask for (and they shall receive)supplemental appropriations of 20 or 30 billion more for theater operations funding. What happened to living within one's means?
Whatever happened to PayGo?
