Kevin Costner - Costner Dives Into Oil Clean-Up Efforts

Movie star KEVIN COSTNER is heading to Louisiana this week (beg10May10) to help clean-up efforts as the state's coastline is threatened by an oil slick in the Gulf of Mexico.

Local businesses and wildlife are in jeopardy after a BP rig collapsed and sent a massive spillage drifting towards the state's shores.

Costner will jet into Louisiana on Thursday (13May10) with his scientist brother Dan to demonstrate a new water-oil separation device.

The brothers set up Costner Industries Nevada Corporation (CINC), and have previously promoted a filtration system, designed by Dan Costner, to recycle oil.

The actor will also be donating $26 million (£17.3 million) to boost relief efforts, according to Billy Nungesser, president of Plaquemines Parish in southern Louisiana.

No posturing here: $26 million is a lot of money, even for Kevin Costner.

It really is...I'm impressed.
Actors have so much money and make such a big deal when they donate half a mill or a million here and there. 26 million is a substantial investment putting his money where his mouth is.

Let's hope his brother is able to help out with this invention.

9. They make centrifuges that separate water from oil..........
at 5 gpm. It would be interesting to see what they propose. I'm in the filtration business and I am both skeptical and curious.

Big Oil George W. Bush. Thanks for coming around and helping out in a significant way.

21. There are... but it seems that the worst polluting dispersant is the better
method at this time.... I'm sure some CEO tipped his hat into the ring for using that chemical which is more toxic than the oil to the wildlife.

23. What in the world has Kevin Costner done lately
to have $26 mil sitting around?

No offense but this looks like a plug for whatever device his brother has invented to remove oil.
