Should Matt Lauer's affair(s) get the same media scrutiny as Tiger Woods' affairs?
And should someone on THE TODAY (maybe Tiger as a guest host) get to interview Lauer's mistress(es) like Lauer did with Tiger's?

I'm not defending Tiger or attack Matt as much as pointing out that its kind of hypocritical for THE TODAY SHOW, and other media outlets, to breathlessly report on the shameful behavior that sometimes takes place in the private lives of public figures without acknowledging their own shameful behavior.

I'd be much happy if EVERYONE's personal dirty laundry remained personal.

Matt Lauer Cheating? Annette Roque, 'Today' Host Reportedly Split After Olympics Affairs

Larry King isn't the only TV personality with marital issues.

"Today" show host Matt Lauer has reportedly moved out of his house after his wife accused him of cheating while covering the WInter Olympics in Vancouver.

The National Enquirer reports that Lauer, who married Dutch model Annette Roque in 1998, moved out of the couple's apartment after an "explosive two-day fight" with his wife. Annette's mother has reportedly confirmed the news to the Enquirer.

Annette accused Lauer of "fooling around during Today's on-site coverage of the Olympics in Vancouver," and the Enquirer reports that Lauer "went wild" while in Canada.

RadarOnline adds:

Suspicions were first sparked when Matt stood Annette up for Valentine's Day, choosing instead to stay in Vancouver, where a source says Matt was often spotted boozing and flirting with women - in particular two pretty Canadian broadcasters.

27. Yes he got a ton. A ton is more than a blurb...as I said....or at least tried to say:
Edited on Thu May-13-10 01:35 PM by YOY
His antics warranted nothing more than a blurb. They got far more coverage than any sane reasoning called for.

7. I will admit something to you. Before the Today Show Lauer was an anchor for the AM local NY news
and I had a crush on him. Politics is never really discussed on that program and very few interviews concerning it, so I had no idea where he stood politically.

Of course, since his true colors have come out on Today, I found him most unattractive.

10. Oh good!
You dodged a figurative bullet not having messed with him.

Some good looking people can easily fool you.

However, some attractive people are also the real deal: looks, brains and sweet personality. We need more of them! :-)

13. In real life humor, personality, intelligence and sweetness rate on top.
Generally classically good looking men have never been attractive to me unless they have fulfilled the first 4 criteria. It just so happened that 2 of my long term relationships were with men that were really handsome and my ex-husband used to be very cute. :)

BTW...with Lauer, I never met him and had a crush on him from the show. I was happily married at the time and just had a baby. Prior to marriage, if he was around...who knows? lol! I attracted a few high profile men in my prime. ;)

:hi:

if lauer is discussing such things if he himself is doing similar things. but i don't care either way. no one's business. wish the media would agree.

Matt Lauer was in town.

I say what's good for one celebrity is good for another. Either stop covering ALL of them, or cover each equally.

FWIW, Matt Lauer is a corporate-brown-nosing punk of the highest order. :puke:

The media should spend much less time poring over celebrities' indiscretions and much more covering the real news.

16. Why are we so obsessed with people's sex lives. He is a morning host, not a priest. It is none
of our business. So easy for people on this board to judge others. Who cares what he did or didn't do. We have no idea what was going on in the marriage. Same goes for Tiger Woods.

18. The rumors have been circulating for years
This is not the first time Lauer has found himself in hot water with his wife, either. Didn't they file for divorce a few years ago?

I don't think much of Lauer in the first place, and the fact he's a man-ho makes him even more repugnant to me.

21. Karma's a bitch!
I don't think anyone's relationship problems deserves more than a cursory mention in the news - and never a leading story.

However, since Mr. Lauer has been such an active participant in the excessive "philandering husband" stories of late, it would seen just that he get some of what he dished out.

22. Hell no.
While I don't agree with all the media coverage given to Tiger's sex life, at least a case could be made that he was worth the attention because he's arguably the best golfer on the planet.

Nobody could make a sane argument that Jughead Lauer is the best at anything.

47. The coverage of Tiger was nauseating, but even worse was the criminalization
You would have thought Tiger broke several laws and was headed to prison based on the tone and frequency of the coverage. Personally, I don't want to hear about a boring golfer's love life, but the double standard was glaring.
