Banning Ethnic Studies in Arizona
Edited on Thu May-13-10 04:14 PM by erpowers
Is this latest law that bans ethnic studies classes in Arizona a backdoor way to prevent schools from teaching about individuals like Che Gueavara and others that Republicans do not like? As I was watching a story about the issue it was mentioned that suposedly the purpose of the law is to prevent classes that encourage anger toward the government and other negative issues.

It seems to me that these classes do not intentionally promote anger against the government. However, if you are going to look into the ideas of men and women like Che Gueavara you may examine ideas that discribe America in a negative light. It is possible that some Republicans oppose the idea of students reading book written by or about certain people. Therefore, some of them may have pushed for a law banning ethnic studies.

1. This reminds me too much of the root of the Scopes Trial.
All it took was to prohibit one particular area of study from being taught. All the Legislature and Governor are promoting is ignorance.

2. I don't think so
They are banning ethnic studies because they only want Caucasian history taught to our children. They want everyone to believe that the great America has nothing to hide. They don't want anyone to talk about the injustices that have occurred on this fertile soil. They don't want the youth really knowing the truth about Americas history of so-called greatness. That it was created on annihilation, enslavement, lies, extortion, forgery, death, and most of all greed.
