who will tell the people
Several years ago, the great writer, William Greider, wrote a book called "Who Will Tell The People".

The Democrats are expected to be slaughtered in this fall's election. All the polls point in that direction. Democrats are running scared. Why?

Why is there such venom directed toward Barack Obama? Because it is Barack Obama thru which the Republicans hope to make this election a national election. Will they be successful?

Propaganda on the right has become white hot. It is 24/7. With such blow-hards as Rush Limbaugh, Mark Levin, Glenn Beck, Sean Hannity, and others, the poor misguided "conservative dittoheads" have no idea what is being done to their unsuspecting small minds. But they are being brain-washed.

It is a thorough washing. Like Pentecostal snake-handlers, they scream epithets and speak in tongues to their "enlightened" listeners. That is the first step in their propaganda. Make the listeners think they are the ones that are enlightened.

And they are succeeding. Pollsters will even tell them that they are more enthusiastic than the Democrats for the next election. And the blow-hards will keep screaming about the evils of Obama.

It is almost like a mob. They see bad. They see evil. They see dead people. That is what the Democrats are battling. These are the forces we face in the November election.

We are losing to the propagandists. Not because the Democrats or Barack Obama have done a worse job than the Republicans before them. They never gave President Obama a chance to clean up their mess. It is because they are full-steam ahead with their propaganda. They are leading people to believe that all the problems we face only began when Obama took office. Or he made them worse. He gets no credit whatsoever.

We must decide how much enthusiasm with which we wish to support Barack Obama. How much credit should he get for the job he has done thus far? Is it worth fighting for? And how hard?

2. That's the biggest problem; the media and their opinion shaping polls

and non stop talking heads. It would be one thing if the defeatist talk was only uttered by the right wingers, but the corporate media is right there, touting corporate commissioned polls as though it is the American people speaking, when that is highly questionnable.

I ask folks.....Not excited about voting for Democrats in November?

Well, that's fine, but

If enough Democrats sit it out, this is what we will get:

A very possible takeover of a currently Democratic Congress,
in the house and/or the Senate

which will be a major Defeat for Democrats,

and be reported as such 24/7....even if the "Ds" retain congress,

as too many seats flipping to the "Rs" will be framed as a major win for astro-turf teabaggers and their corporate friends,

and many of their policy views will be touted as mainstream views by the media without end,

which will mean Gridlock in Congress with the blessing of "the American People",

and a major slowdown in getting any progressive policies through,

which may mean a 2012 possible victory for a Republican candidate with teabag values and all that they represent,

which means whichever progressive believes that being a "no-show" due to "lack of enthusiasm" in November will "Show" those Democrats a thing or two, well, they aren't even close. It will only be interpreted as Americans being more conservative than they are progressive, and those in Congress, including the Dems left will react accordingly; they always do.

So what does not being excited about voting in November gain those who choose to act on this lack of excitement.....?

a whole lot more in the opposite direction of what they actually want,
and most likely for a whole lot longer than they currently figure.

So although many in the media as well as on the Internet will continue to push for, and encourage the discouragement of the Democratic party as a whole; being successful in this endeavor will not serve progressives well in the short or in the long run.

This is not meant to scare, but it does provides a more than very likely scenario. :(

7. since he'd get hit with right-wing propaganda even if he were the second coming of jesus, maybe he
should try governing like a democrat instead of a republican.

my two cents.
